Terra Ventures Ltd. (TSX-V: TAS) announces that it has completed an airborne radiometric and magnetic survey in the area of its Lac Kachiwiss uranium property near Sept-Iles, Quebec, and has acquired an additional 101,600 hectares by staking.
The airborne survey was carried out by Novatem Inc. of Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec. It utilized a gamma-ray spectrometer and a magnetometer. The 10,827 line-kilometre survey covered the Lac Kachiwiss uranium property, where a 4,004-metre diamond drilling program was recently completed (see news release of January 8th, 2009), as well as the 838 claims recently acquired by the company (see news release of December 31st, 2008), and a large area of the surrounding ground.
Preliminary ground examination of a selection of airborne radiometric anomalies indicated the presence of uranium-bearing pegmatitic granite of the same type as the company has been drilling at Lac Kachiwiss. On this basis, these and other anomalies defined by the survey were covered by map-staking an additional 1,997 cells with a total area of approximately 101,600 hectares.
The radiometric anomaly corresponding to the Lac Kachiwiss uranium zone measures approximately 3600 metres by 800 metres. The drilling performed recently by Terra, in addition to drilling done from 1976 to 1978 by the previous operator, Getty Mines Ltd., has tested an overall combined area of 1320 metres by 800 metres. The airborne survey data give reason to believe that the mineralized zone may be much larger than previously recognized.
Terra Ventures now holds a total of 2,951 claims with an aggregate area of approximately 150,500 hectares in the region.
